Chicago reporter and editor.
Edward H. Eulenberg began his newspaper career in 1927, working for
City News Bureau. He remained there for the next thirty years as a reporter and
editor. In 1957, Eulenberg moved on to the Chicago Daily
News as a reporter and feature writer where he remained until his
retirement in 1977. Additionally, Eulenberg served as an instructor,
educational advisor, and journalism coordinator for Northwestern University’s
Medill School of Journalism. Eulenberg was married to Jean Eulenberg and they
had two sons. He died in January of 1988.
Return to the Table of Contents
This collection consists mainly of newspaper clippings of Eulenberg’s
articles and his column “In the Classroom” written for the
Chicago Daily News. Eulenberg’s articles and his
column cover a wide variety of mostly local topics. As a sinophile from
childhood, Eulenberg writes extensively about Chicago’s Chinese community. He
also covers Jewish holidays and charity organizations such as the Crusade of
Mercy. Also included in the collection are a small amount of research materials
gathered for his column, and collected newspaper clippings regarding himself,
his family, and various other topics of interest.
