Also, one short letter from Allen Tate and three from Malcolm Cowley, plus three off-prints of Liberman’s articles on Porter and a copy of Porter’s early cancelled will.

Biography of M.M. Liberman

Teacher and literary critic.

Myron Mandell Liberman was born in 1921, married Mathilda Nahra in 1958, and had two children. He taught English at Wayne State University, 1957-1960, and then Grinnell College in Iowa, starting in 1960.

Liberman eschewed the use of his first names and as an author of literary studies, particularly of Katherine Anne Porter, he used only the initials M.M.

Scope and Content of the Collection

Correspondence between Liberman and Katherine Anne Porter and her lawyer regarding access to Porter’s papers and the short-lived designation of Liberman as her literary executor. Also, a short letter to Liberman from Allen Tate, three letters from Malcolm Cowley, three off-prints of Liberman’s articles on Porter, and a copy of a will of Porter’s which she later cancelled.
