- Designer, publisher and patron of fine press printing.,His first book was the Notizen u¨ber Mexico (1898). After founding the Cranach Press at Weimar in 1913, he commissioned type designs from Edward Johnston and a book version of Gordon Craig's staging of Hamlet with designs by Craig. Incoming correspondence, largely in English, with a small number of drafts or carbon copies of outgoing letters. Includied are letters from Sidney Cockerell, Edward Gordon Craig, Eric Gill, Edward Johnston, Georges Lemmen, Emery Walker and others.
