Contains correspondence detailing Moir’s business dealings and investments outside of Illinois, stretching across the country from Kentucky, Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota, to Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, and New Hampshire. The businesses include mining, agricultural implements and machinery, and whiskey distilling as well as railroads. Among the latter are papers exchanged with the Illinois Central and the Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy railroads.
