Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Correspondence and personal materials related to Bennet B. Harvey, Dorothy Wegener Harvey, and their son, Bennet B. Harvey, Jr. Includes schoolwork, programs, and other items from Chicago Latin School, which all three Harveys attended, and mementos from Wellesley College and Princeton University. Correspondence of the elder Harveys describes the 1920s Chicago social environment, leisure activities, and travels of their youth, and letters to each other detail a devoted relationship. The Harveys were lifelong Chicagoans involved with a variety of local organizations; represented here are the Chicago Junior League, the Fortnightly Club, and St. Chrysostom's Church, among others. Bennet B. Harvey, Jr.'s letters to his parents and grandparents describe experiences at boys summer camps in the 1940s, and collegiate life in the 1950s; there are also materials related to his law career, and 1969 campaign for a delegate seat at the Illinois Constitutional Convention.
