Scope and Content of the Collection

From the Collection:

Enrico Cecchetti was the teacher of Pavlova and the early 20th century Russian School; his method was later adapted for teaching classical ballet to children.

The collection includes The Cecchetti Council of America material: examination booklets, syllabi for teaching girls and men from elementary to advanced, graded lesson booklets, Enrico Cecchetti diploma documents and national newsletters. Also, four small undated pamphlets entitled, "The Cecchetti Method" by Cyril W. Beaumont; miscellaneous class notes and school hand-outs, including a syllabus by dancer Leon Danielian; two volumes of piano music for use when teaching the Cecchetti Method; a cassette tape, "New Advanced Cecchetti"; and phonograph records of the Cecchetti method, Grades One through Five, some in multiple copies, published in 1952. Audiovisual recordings in this collection have not been digitized and are unavailable for use at this time.
