Scope and Contents note
Outgoing and incoming correspondence of J.C. Peasley, vice-president and treasurer of CB&Q. Peasley began his career as a station agent for the B&MRR in 1862, but left the railroad to work for the National State Bank of Burlington. He joined CB&Q after C.E. Perkins recruited him for treasurer in 1881, and eventually became vice-president/treasurer. Peasley remained with CB&Q until 1901. Most correspondence is regarding financial and business matters, including salaries, equipment expenditures, also some job applications and descriptions and policy decisions. Also included is material related to Peasley’s work with the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, for which he served as a director and member of the Committee on Transportation.
