Scope and Contents note
These early letters between a young C. E. Perkins and J. M. Forbes are unique in the correspondence for their truly personal nature. Forbes addresses Perkins as cousin in the earliest letters and acts as elder advisor for Perkins. They discuss the promotion of G. B. Harris to vice-president of CB&Q as well as Perkins’ ambitions in the railroad business and impending marriage to Edith Forbes. Later letters discuss relations with other roads, the 1888 strike, and other railroad business. A subject index follows at end of chronological run.
This material was originally given the call number C-O 1 F 3.1, Cunningham-Overton Collection.
