Series 765: Lists, Patents, Lieu Lands, etc., 1864-1901
Scope and Contents note
This group contains primarily bound volumes of land prices, lists of lieu lands (public lands that a patentee may locate in a place within the limits of a previous grant, which are occupied by persons given special protection by the law of patents) and patents (legal documents showing transfer of land ownership from the U.S. Government to individuals), and some miscellaneous lists. These materials date from just after the 1971 federal land grants were made to the railroads in Iowa and Nebraska.
