Scope and Contents note

Production files document the creative and logistical process of putting on dance performances, from the beginning ideas to the final performance. This series includes documents that describe the story of the piece (synopses, scenaria or scripts), costume and set design sketches, choreography notations, press clippings, publicity materials, inventories of costumes or set pieces, research materials, and technical notes (including sound system design and operation, lighting design and light board operation, costume and prop management, etc.). There are also production files and information in the correspondence series and the music series.

The Ruth Page papers are open for research in the Special Collections Reading Room; 1 box at a time (Priority III).

Arrangement note

Arranged alphabetically by the title of the work or the name of the creator, followed by miscellaneous files relating to multiple productions, and Page's choreographic notebooks and notes, many of which contain, exercises and steps, and notes on choreographing specific dance pieces. Oversized materials are filed at the end.
