Correspondence - Lanza, Mario and Betty, undated

 File — Box: 3, Folder: 43

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

The Administrative series encompasses the planning and operations functions of the organization. Because Harry and Sarah Zelzer were so closely bonded to their business, this series also includes many personal items, such as personal correspondence and Christmas cards, artwork given to them, and awards they received. Correspondence back and forth between Harry Zelzer and promoters and critics could be acerbic and fiery; especially entertaining are Harry Zelzer's speeches and fake "interview" with his friend F.C. Schang, chairman of Columbia Artists Management, International (CAMI). There are also some charming letters from children wishing to receive tickets for a production of "The Mikado" in 1966, along with children's illustrations of characters from The Mikado.

Some correspondence in this series was removed from the Ticket Sales Series because of the prominence of the correspondent. Correspondents include Glenn Gould, Vladimir Horowitz (signed contract), Cleo Laine, Nana Mouskouri, Ruth Page, and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.
