General Ledger, May 1, 1959-Apr. 30, 1960

 File — Box: 7, Folder: 108

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Mostly complete but some scattered records documenting the finances of Allied Arts corporation. Includes ledgers from 1940-1975, lacking some years, of operational costs and income for the organization. For individual income and expenses per concert, see Series 3: Ticket Sales. Early stock certificates show the names of stockholders before Harry Zelzer bought Allied Arts in 1948. There are interesting folders about the Chicago City Amusement tax levies and the lengths Harry Zelzer went to in order to circumvent paying the taxes, including appealing to a member of Mayor Richard J. Daley's close circle, "Colonel" Jack Reilly.
