Scope and Contents note

Contains a wide array of government records (primarily birth, marriage, and death certificates), news clippings and obituaries, estate and other financial records, as well as personal ephemera. Several folders contain material related to Beatrice Maud (Michell) Knowles and her work as the president of American Mothers. Knowles’s address to Congress on behalf of the group and her accusations of libelous content regarding her activism in Arthur Derounian’s 1943 book Under Cover (written under pseudonym John Roy Carlson) are also included.

The series is arranged alphabetically by family member name and item description. Balzhäuser and Kauffman family materials (including Kaechle and Pohl) are grouped together and filed under Balzhäuser.
