Scope and Contents note

Materials related to Anne Siewers Coyne’s personal life, such as her work at the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop, her teaching in the Chicago Public Schools, and her additional interests. The materials related to Coyne herself include certificates, clippings, correspondence, photographs, and writings. One of the writings is about the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago and the other is about Ralph G. Newman who owned the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop.

Included in this series are also items related to particular people, such as her friends Olive Carruthers and William “Bill” P. Schenk, both poets, Ralph G. Newman, and Carl Sandburg who she met through her work at the book store and its corresponding events for him. Materials related to other people from Anne’s persona life include clippings, correspondence, photographs, poems, and programs.
