Published articles, clippings, correspondence, and manuscript drafts written by journalist Marcia Slater Johnston. Dating from the 1970s, the articles cover research topics including immigration, gangs, sex trafficking, women’s justice, medicine, and consumer issues. The articles appear in publications including the Chicago Guide, Chicago Daily News, Crain’s Chicago Business, and the Chicago Tribune Magazine and travel section. Also includes materials related to Johnston’s time in graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her presentations, workshops, classes, awards, jobs, and other activities.

Audiocassettes include recordings of radio and television shows in which Johnston was a guest, panelist and/or producer. The interview topics correspond to stories and articles by Johnston and most are from WIND AM’s Call to Action radio show that addressed consumer complaints. Recordings have been digitized.
