Scope and Contents note

Contains a small amount of office materials including reporters' notebooks, guide, and calendar pages from the City News Bureau office at the Cook County Criminal Court Building in downtown Chicago. The remainder of the series is comprised of reporters' news copy, notes, press releases, and an occasional letter from a reader. The state-prosecuted criminal cases include such high-profile cases as the 1993 Brown's Chicken Restaurant mass murder, and the 2003 E2 nightclub stampede.

The City News Bureau records are open for research in the Special Collections Reading Room; 1 box at a time (Priority III).

Arrangement note

Arranged alphabetically with office materials at the beginning followed by news copy. Filing systems from several reporters were combined, making for some overlap in the alphabetization.
