The Highway Department's decision to level a 120 year old oak forest to straighten a curve on Route 31 through the Sims's family's farm was fought by getting help from lawyers, Governor Kerner, Justice Paul Douglas, even Lady Bird Johnson and, 1, 21 National TV. The trees lost to eminent domain, a procedure which needs to be a more thorough and fair procedure.
