A childhood fascination (mixed with fear) with caves (in North Dakota and Mammoth Caves) leads the author to France and Spain (from Paris to Bilbao to Sant Mana del Mar to Puente Viesgo) to visit Paleolithic cave art. She describes the Covalanas Cave, Altamira 11, Las Monedas, El Castillo, Pindal and Tito Bustillo.
