She describes original settlers, the role of the Mississippi River, topology, their ongoing rivalries (and scandals), commercial development (from early farming, logging, fur, railroads, etc.) to modern prosperity that has come to all (Northwest Airlines, 3M, BestBuy, Target, etc.).
