Correspondents - Weller, George, 1970

 unspecified — Box: 22, Folder: 267

Scope and Contents note

From the Sub-Series:

Contains some administrative materials, correspondence with foreign correspondents working at the Daily News during the 1970s, and the files of Baker Marsh, who was the foreign editor during the 1950s and 1960s. Marsh's files are labeled and arranged as he had them originally, by subject. They contain memos, clippings, dispatches, and correspondence with Basil Walters, Keyes Beech, Smith Hempstone, Georgie Anne Geyer and others reporting from their various locations. Of note are letters from Keyes Beech from Asia in the years leading up to the Vietnam War, and Georgie Anne Geyer who was one of the first women to cover South America. Some material pre-dates the Chicago Daily News and seems to be carried over from Marsh's predecessor at the Chicago Times. Other foreign-service related materials can be found in Sub-Series 1.
