Scope and Contents note

Contains reel-to-reel and cassette tapes of poetry readings, songs, speeches and interviews by and about Malcolm Cowley. Several items were recorded at the Newberry Library for special meetings or to commemorate the Newberry's 1979 exhibit about Cowley entitled, "Sharing the Literary Feast." Includes four cassette recordings of lectures Cowley presented at the University of Warwick, Coventry, England, in March and May 1973. Some materials have been digitized.

Conditions Governing Access

The Malcolm Cowley papers are open for research in the Special Collections Reading Room; 5 folders at a time maximum, and items in each folder will be counted before and after delivery to the patron (Priority I). Series 6: Family Papers are restricted and require approval of curator before accessing.

Some audiovisual recordings in this collection have been digitized. Researchers may access those materials in the Special Collections Reading Room.

Immediate Source of Acquisition note

The University of Warwick lectures were donated by the University of Warwick Department of Film and Television Studies in April, 2008.
