Scope and Contents note

Incoming correspondence includes letters from famous composers and musicians as well as compliments on Gleason's compositions, the business of the Manuscript Society of Chicago, and the business of the Chicago Auditorium Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art. Some letters are in German or French. Notable correspondents include Amy Beach, Edward MacDowell, Gustav Mahler, Jules Massenet, Harriet Monroe (who encloses her poem which Gleason set to music for the occasion of the opening of the Auditorium Building), Camille Saint-Saëns, Johann Strauss, Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky, and Theodore Thomas.
