Correspondence of James B. Waller, Lucy Alexander Waller, and their children. Included are the many letters James B. Waller wrote to his wife Lucy during times of separation, as well as letters received by both. Of note is a letter to Lucy from former Confederate general P.G.T. Beauregard, and letters from Robert Alexander Waller to his parents describing the death and funeral of Robert E. Lee. In addition to correspondence, this series also contains two of James B. Waller's school compositions: "Slavery and Colonizaton" and "Chemistry," a diary kept by Lucy Alexander Waller during a trip to Italy in 1842, and a photograph of Lucy Alexander Waller with her daughters.
