 File — Box: 8, Folder: 77

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Contains materials related to the anthropological studies of Solon T. Kimball and Conrad Arensberg in County Clare, Ireland. Includes correspondence, interviews, research notes and subject files, source materials and writings. Correspondence is mainly with colleague and coauthor Conrad Arensberg and concerns their Irish work. There are interviews conducted with local Irishmen, which document Kimball's daily activities, conversations and everyday life events during this time period. Subject files, created by Kimball, concern such topics as agriculture, religion, government, politics, ceremonials, life crises, distribution, labor and employment. Newspaper clippings, collected by Kimball, exhaustively document local and national news and events regarding similar topics. These files also contain handwritten notes, which are index-type references to the local Irish newspaper and/or his manuscripts. The writings include both Kimball's and Arensberg's theses, which were based in part on the Irish studies, as well as, the manuscript and printer's proof of Family and Community in Ireland.
