Scope and Contents note

Correspondence between members of both the Spencer family and the Sloan family. In addition, there are letters between various penmen who were students of Spencer, or worked with him or his children. Correspondence also includes letters exchanged between Junius Sloan and his clients and his family. There is also correspondence between various penmen and business school administrators working in the field decades after Spencer’s death, and who may have had little or no contact with Spencer himself.

Arrangement note

Arranged alphabetically by name of sender, although in a few instances letters might be grouped as “letters to”. Ingoing and outgoing correspondence is integrated as one.
