Scope and Content of the Collection

Copy 41 of 130 copies issued of Communications, the proceedings of the seventh congress of the organization, held September 24-29, 1967, at Trinity College, Oxford, England.

Proceedings contain the papers given at the congress, with additional material. Accompanying material include a note of presentation to the Newberry from editor J.S.G. Simmons of the copy, 1982, correspondence from other organizations asking for copies of the proceedings, newsclippings about the congress, and a list of those persons and institutions who received any of the 130 original copies.

Newberry also has a photocopy of copy 103 of 130, cataloged as Wing folio TS 1090 .I58 1967.

History of the International Congress of Paper Historians

Organization founded in 1959 and dedicated to the study of the history of paper.

According to the organization's website, "The IPH integrates professionals of different branches and all friends of paper within the field of paper history. It coordinates all interests and activities in paper history as an international specialist association co-operating with international, regional and local organisations not only of paper historians but also of keepers of archives and libraries, conservators, arthistorians, specialists in books, printing and technology, associations of the paper industry, the publishing trade etc., including handicraft and artistic activities in connection with paper."
