Scope and Contents
Travel journal in two volumes kept by Emma Lee Walton (1874-1951) of Chicago on a trip to Europe in 1922-1923. Also includes her 1922 passport. Emma Lee Walton left Chicago on May 3, 1922 at travelled to Montreal Canada where she boarded the S.S. Montcalm for Liverpool. While in Europe she travelled throughout England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy. She left London May 5, 1923 on the SS President Garfield to New York and arrived back in Chicago in June 13, 1923. Includes lists of purchases with prices, postcards and letters written, list of "new words" in French, and a list of "cabmen I have met in Rome".
