Scope and Content of the Collection

Fifteen videotapes of performances and rehearsals by choreographer Amy Osgood and her dance company, Osgood Dances, Inc. between 1980 and 1991. Performances locations identified in the collection include the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, Dance Theater Workshop in New York City, and MoMing Dance and Arts Center in Chicago. Many pieces include original music by Richard Woodbury, who was also a dancer. Other featured dancers include Tari Gallagher, Amy Osgood, David Puszczewicz, Roger Prenger, and Erika Garrison. Videos often include other technical performance information such as lighting design and costume credits.

Biography of Amy Osgood

White, American choreographer, teacher, dancer, and artist.

Amy Osgood grew up in LaGrange, Illinois, where she began her dance training with Edith Gibson and Joann Craig. She received her degree in modern dance from the University of Utah in 1974. Shortly thereafter, she joined Mordine and Company in Chicago. In 1978, Amy incorporated Osgood Dances, Inc., a professional performance company which toured to New York and Minneapolis. Prior to choreographing a workshop piece for the Hubbard Street Dance Company in the summer of 1985, Amy created dances for Jansdances, Bob Eisen and the Chicago Repertory Dance Ensemble. Amy taught technique and composition at the MoMing Dance and Arts Center in Chicago. After retiring from dance, she became a visual artist. She is married to composer-musician Richard Woodbury.
