A Spanish Cavalier. Author's Uncle Charles Goodrich was a Chicago businessman from a Puritan background. In the early 20th century he fell in love with Mexico. Uncle Charley turned into Don Carlos, a Mexican landowner, beset by rebels who stole his land and burned his house. But he never lost his love for Mexico. After he lost an appeal for help from President Wilson he returned to his beloved Mexico until he died.
