Young, prominent historian of the ordinary people of the American Revolution and mentor to a whole generation of younger scholars. Young taught for over 25 years at Northern Illinois University and after his retirement was a senior research fellow at the Newberry Library.

Dating from the 1970s, Johnston’s work covers issues such as immigration, gangs, sex trafficking, women’s justice, medicine, and consumer issues. Also includes audiocassettes of radio shows featuring Johnston and her articles.

Abstract Scrapbooks containing newspaper and magazine clippings assembled by various Pullman’s Palace car company and Pullman Company departments, dating primarily from two years prior to the company’s incorporation in 1867 through the 1927 creation of Pullman Inc. There are also several 1940’s Public Relations Dept. volumes. Forms part of the Pullman Company Records.
