Scope and Contents note

4 letterpress copybooks containing letters written when Harris was president of CB&Q. Correspondence deals with relations with other roads, especially the Union Pacific and B&MR, which was engaged at the time in a struggle with CB&Q over “Iowa Pool” freight rates. Letters from July of 1877 deal with the brief but significant “Great Railroad Strike of 1877.”
