Letters written by W.T. Steiger , a land agent for the B&MRR working in Washington D.C., regarding selection of lands under the land grants in Iowa and Nebraska, homesteads, preemption, swamp lands, and other related matters. Primarily written to other land agents and land commissioners, including C.R. Lowell, C.E. Perkins, J.W. Ames, G.S. Harris, A.E. Touzalin, and W.W. Baldwin. Letters are numbered 1-854, with some unnumbered, and include an index arranged by subject.
