At an unidentified portion of (probably) the Illinois and Michigan Canal, dredging and construction work. There is a rudimentary spillway across the river, and the workers seem to be constructing a lock. There appears to be a workers’ camp nearby and a town in the distance. Sequence numbers include: 186-193, and 196-8; 13 prints, ca. 1890
