Scope and Contents note From the Series: Materials collected by Doris Humphrey’s mother, Julia Ellen Humphrey (née Wells), who accompanied her daughter on the Denishawn Dancers tour aboard with Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn. The tour took place between 1925 and 1926. The series chiefly contains postcards and photographs from and of Japan, China, India, Ceylon (today known as Sri Lanka), the Philippines, Burma (today known as Myanmar), and more.
